Wrong Address, Ojol Driver Was Accused of 'Monkey' and Abused

JAKARTA - The police have confirmed the persecution of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers that occurred in the West Jakarta (Jakbar) area.

"Yes, the Kembangan Police have received a report of alleged abuse or beating of online taxi drivers in the Kembangan area, West Jakarta," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, in his statement in Jakarta, Monday.

He said the incident had been reported by the victim on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in the early hours.

"The handling of the case is still ongoing," said Budi.

Regarding the alleged perpetrator of the persecution, who is a member of the Paspampres, Budi said his party was still investigating the matter.

Previously, a video upload circulated on the Instagram social media through the @hasanPolisi account which confirmed the persecution of ojol drivers in Jakbar. The driver showed a video showing that he was the victim of the persecution.

In the post, he uploaded photos of evidence of persecution, police reports and evidence of the booking application.

The account also wrote the chronology of the incident of persecution which occurred on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 20.15 WIB, when the driver received an online motorcycle taxi order from a customer with the initials N, from Jalan Mawar, Srengseng, with the intention of Haji Lebar.

Upon arrival at the destination, it turned out that the passenger was wrong about the destination. The ojol driver also confirmed to the passenger about the actual direction and destination, but the passenger admitted that he did not know the way to his destination because he was only asked to come to the perpetrator's house.

The ojol driver then asked the passenger to contact the perpetrator to confirm the actual location. However, when the passenger told him that he was already on Jalan Kecapi and asked for directions, the perpetrator instead spoke in a high tone and insulted him with the word 'monkey'.

However, the ojol driver still delivered the passenger to the perpetrator's house. However, upon arrival at the destination, there was a quarrel that caused a commotion, and the ojol driver was abused until he was injured. As a result, the driver reported to the Kembangan Police with the number LP/B/080/II/2026/POLSEK KEMBANGAN/POLRES METRO JAKARTA BARAT/POLDA METRO JAYA.
