Central Government Activation at IKN Carried Out in Stages Throughout 2026

JAKARTA - The Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) said that the activation of IKN, which was built in parts of North Penajam Paser Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Province, became the center of government work carried out gradually throughout 2026.

"The central government targets the activation of IKN as a government work center to be carried out gradually throughout 2026," said IKN Authority Head Basuki Hadimuljono, Friday, when asked about the development of IKN in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, quoted by Antara.

This year, the main concern of the IKN development, said Basuki, is the preparation for the transfer of state civil servants (ASN), office readiness and housing.

He said the construction of the first phase of ASN office and residential buildings had been completed and the second phase was in the acceleration of completion, and the construction of the Vice President's Palace was declared 100 percent physically completed and entered the stage of filling the interior and furniture/furniture.

"Furniture for the Presidential Palace and the Vice Presidential Palace is the responsibility of the State Secretariat," he said.

After all the construction of office and residential buildings for ASN, as well as the Vice Presidential Palace is completed, said Basuki, the central government targets to start moving the activities of the Indonesian government in IKN.

"So that IKN is no longer just a development area, but has begun to enter the functional stage as the new center of government in Indonesia," he said.

He said that about 50 staff of the Vice President were already in the IKN area to make technical preparations, including furniture/furniture surveys, arranging workspaces, and operational coordination in the ASN tower area (tower) one.

"The presence of the staff is part of the initial stage before the Vice President carries out activities routinely at IKN," he said.

Then, as many as 16 ministries and state agencies are also scheduled to start carrying out routine activities in the IKN Government Center Core Area (KIPP) in Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency.

According to Basuki, long-term development continues to be carried out to realize IKN as the Indonesian Political Capital in 2028, especially the development of the legislative and judicial areas in the IKN KIPP according to plan.
