BADUNG - The Ministry of Environment has sealed 12 incinerators at two integrated waste processing centers (TPST) owned by the Badung Regency Government, Bali, which were provided by the local government to destroy waste.
"It has been sealed, it has been sealed permanently," said Minister of LH Hanif Faisol Nurofiq on the sidelines of the cleaning action of the Kedonganan Beach in Badung Regency, Bali, Friday, February 6.
Minister Hanif said that this sealing was carried out based on President Prabowo Subianto's instructions that incinerators that can be used must obtain a quality standard permit from the Ministry of LH.
Although it is known that the Badung Regency Government and the provider of four of the 12 incinerators previously stated that their equipment in the form of large incinerators had met the requirements for dioxin furan which was below the threshold of the Ministry of LH.
"So in Bandung and here in Badung, police lines are also being installed for the incinerator because the impact is very bad, I don't need to tell you because this is a tourist area, basically it shouldn't be," said Hanif Faisol.
Instead, the Central Government through Danantara will make waste processing technology into electric energy (PSEL) which will start in March 2026.
"The first is Bali for Denpasar and Badung in one agglomeration, then DIY, Bekasi, and Bogor, while the other six are in the process of procuring goods and services which are projected to be completed in November," he said.
Even though it is not with the incinerator, using the PSEL presented by the central government alone will be able to reduce the problem of garbage in Bali.
In 2026, the RPJMN mandates that the waste problem will be completed at least 63 percent but today it is only 24 percent.
The Minister of LH believes that if PSEL runs in Bali, the percentage of handling will rise to 57 percent.
Based on this decision of the LH Ministry, Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa said that they had no choice but to look for another alternative.
Considering that the PSEL project will only start in March and be completed in a year, the Suwung landfill is also still limited except for specific waste, namely beach waste.
In fact, the four latest large incinerators at the TPST Padang Seni itself have not been tested but immediately sealed.
"The question now is where the garbage has been taken for a year, maybe today I appeal to the public that they should also start sorting, reducing residues, inorganic waste that is usually taken to the landfill, now I ask that this be processed in each house," said Adi Arnawa.
The Badung Regency Government also asked all villages to build modern teba for handling organic waste based on sources.
"At least organic waste can be done in each house, this is one of the commitments and efforts made by our government, but the problem is that if there is still waste, this is the problem," he said.
