BANTUL - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, said that the number of injured people in the area due to the impact of the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that shook Pacitan, East Java on Friday (6/2) morning increased to 15 people.

The Head of the Implementation (Kalak) of the Bantul BPBD, Mujahid Amrudin, said that 15 people were injured due to the earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 at 01.06 WIB which was located 89 km south of Pacitan, with a depth of 10 km which was recorded by Pusdalops BPBD until 09.30 WIB.

"The injured victims have been treated at Panembahan Senopati Hospital, Saras Adyatma Hospital, Santa Elisabeth Hospital, PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Permata Husada Hospital, and there are also victims from Piyungan District who are being treated at Prambanan Hospital," he said as reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 6.

Pusdalops BPBD Bantul stated that some of them were immediately allowed to go home or undergo outpatient treatment, but some had to undergo hospitalization, because they needed further treatment by the hospital.

"Some of them are undergoing outpatient care, some victims who have broken bones are still required to be hospitalized in hospitals," he said.

Meanwhile, the impact of buildings that suffered damage due to the earthquake was 13 points, including eight damaged houses, two places of worship, one government facility, two education facilities and one health facility.

"The location of the affected buildings is spread across 10 kapanewon (districts), namely Banguntapan one point, Bantul one point, Imogiri one point, Jetis three points, Kasihan three points, Pajangan one point, Pleret one point, Pundong one point, Sedayu one point, and Srandakan one point," he said.

Mujahid said based on the BMKG's analysis, the Pacitan earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami. Regarding the potential for aftershocks, it will be investigated together with the BMKG and further coordinated.

"Today the BMKG team went to the BPBD to investigate the potential for aftershocks, whether there is an impact related to the Opak Fault or not. We will keep the community calm, while updating the latest BMKG. So, the community remains calm and remains vigilant," he said.
