BOGOR - Commission IV of the Bogor City DPRD emphasized the importance of improving and accuracy of employment data as the main basis for formulating policies to reduce unemployment in Bogor City.

The emphasis was conveyed by the Chairman of Commission IV of the Bogor City DPRD, Fajar Muhamad Nur, together with Deputy Chairman Asep Nadzarullah, Secretary Subhan, and a number of members during a working meeting with the Bogor City Manpower Service (Disnaker), Thursday, February 5.

Fajar assessed that the unemployment data that has been used by Disnaker has not fully reflected the actual conditions in the field. The reason is that data collection is still based on applicants for the Yellow Card (AK-1), so it has the potential not to include all job seekers.

"We see that the problem is not that there is no data, but that the accuracy is not yet optimal. So far it is based on residents who apply for a yellow card. In fact, there are still many job seekers who are not recorded," said Fajar during the meeting.

He emphasized that Commission IV would encourage the strengthening of the data collection system so that the government had a valid and accountable database as a reference for formulating programs.

Based on the exposure of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the open unemployment rate (TPT) of Bogor City in 2025 was recorded at 7.95 percent, while the target for 2026 was projected at 7.99 percent. However, Fajar questioned the appropriateness of these figures with the conditions in the community.

"Disnaker said the trend of unemployment is declining, but residents' complaints about the difficulty of finding jobs are still high. This is what we need to check again for validity and synchronization," he said.

To increase the absorption of labor, the DPRD also encourages cross-organizational collaboration between regional institutions, including with the Cooperative and UMKM Service, to create an ecosystem between employment opportunities and local economic empowerment.

In addition, Commission IV requested the optimization of the job vacancy information system in public spaces as well as an evaluation of the implementation of job fairs which were considered not effective. This year, the job fair activity is only budgeted once.

The DPRD plans to hold a cross-sector meeting to formulate concrete solutions in expanding employment access for the community.

Commission IV also highlighted the need to accelerate the improvement of the Labor Training Center (BLK), including updating the training curriculum to be in line with current industry needs.

"We encourage training that is relevant to the development of the times, such as affiliates, streaming hosts, to content creators. The BLK facilities must be completed immediately so that Bogor youth have the skills needed by the labor market," concluded Fajar.
