JAKARTA - The government has set learning arrangements at schools during Ramadan 2026 by focusing on strengthening religious values, character formation, and fulfilling the rights of students to learn in a balanced manner.

"Ramadan is a momentum for character education. Therefore, our learning is directed to strengthen religious values according to the religion and beliefs of students, as well as to cultivate social awareness and positive habits," said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Pratikno in a Ministerial Level Meeting (RTM) in Jakarta, Thursday, February 5, reported by ANTARA.

Coordinating Minister Pratikno emphasized that learning during Ramadan is not only directed at the academic aspect, but also becomes a strategic momentum to strengthen the faith, piety, noble morals, and social character of Indonesian children.

In its regulations, he said, the government encourages the strengthening of religious material that is tailored to the religion of each student.

For Muslim students, he continued, activities can be in the form of Al-Quran recitation, flash boarding, Islamic studies, and other activities that support the strengthening of faith, piety, and noble morals.

Meanwhile, non-Muslim students are facilitated through spiritual guidance and other religious activities according to their respective beliefs.

In addition to strengthening religion, he said, learning during Ramadan is also directed to strengthen the character of students through various social and educational activities.

The activities include sharing takjil, distributing zakat and compensation, religious competitions such as adzan competition, Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ), religious intelligence, and various other positive activities.

"We want children to learn empathy, mutual cooperation, and social concern. Children-friendly Ramadan must be filled with activities that build character, including the Indonesian Children's Seven Great Habits Movement, the one-hour movement without gadgets, and other positive activities," said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno.

The results of the meeting agreed on the learning scheme during Ramadan 2026, namely learning outside the educational unit on February 18 to 20, 2026, face-to-face learning on February 23 to March 16, 2026, and post-Ramadan holidays on March 23 to 27, 2026.

The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture encourages regional governments and educational units to follow up on this policy with adaptive and contextual technical arrangements, without reducing the substance of the national policy that has been established.
