JAKARTA - A number of Indonesian civil society elements have reported alleged crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity allegedly committed by the Israeli authorities, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) of the Republic of Indonesia.

The report was filed by referring to Articles 598 and 599 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP), as well as the provisions on extraterritorial jurisdiction and universal jurisdiction as regulated in Articles 5 and 6 of the Criminal Code.

"This report is not just a political attitude, but a legitimate legal step to encourage accountability for alleged serious international crimes in Palestine. This is a form of moral and constitutional responsibility of Indonesian civil society," said Human Rights Activist (HAM) Fatia Maulidiyanti at the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia, South Jakarta, Thursday, February 5, 2026.

In the report document, the rapporteurs explained the alleged pattern of systematic and widespread violence against Palestinian civilians from 2008 to 2025 through various major Israeli military operations. The series of operations is said to have caused tens of thousands of casualties, including women and children, and caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure protected by international humanitarian law.

"Attacks on civilian objects such as settlements, schools, houses of worship, refugee camps, and health facilities show a recurring and widespread pattern," said Fatia.

One of the main focuses of the report is the attack on the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia, North Gaza, which is a medical facility resulting from Indonesian-Palestinian humanitarian cooperation. In the period from October 2023 to May 2025, the hospital reportedly suffered at least 41 attacks, ranging from drone and tank attacks to the destruction of vital facilities such as electrical generators and water tanks.

"The attack on the Indonesian Hospital is not only a violation of international humanitarian law, but also touches on Indonesia's national interests because the hospital is a humanitarian asset built by the Indonesian people," he said.

In addition, the report also highlights the policy of a total blockade on humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, which is considered to have triggered a serious humanitarian crisis, including the threat of mass starvation and the collapse of health services. The data included mentions that millions of Gazans are facing an acute food crisis due to the interruption of access to clean water, electricity, fuel, and the collapse of agricultural and health infrastructure.

Fatia hopes that the Attorney General's Office can follow up on the report in a professional, independent, and transparent manner as a form of Indonesia's commitment to enforcing human rights at the global level. Although Indonesia cannot directly present the accused for legal proceedings, he emphasized that this legal step still has an important meaning.

"At least, if the Israeli authorities, including Benjamin Netanyahu, enter Indonesian territory, law enforcement officers have a legal basis for arrest and judicial proceedings," he said.

He also encouraged the Attorney General's Office to handle this report seriously as part of Indonesia's contribution to maintaining world order based on independence, peace, and justice.

The report involves ten figures from various backgrounds, ranging from former state officials, academics, human rights activists, to humanitarian organizations that have been active in advocating for Palestinian issues. They include former Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia Marzuki Darusman, former KPK Chairman Busyro Muqoddas, Feri Amsari, Heru Susetyo, Fatia Maulidiyanti, Wanda Hamidah, Eka Annash, as well as humanitarian agencies such as Dompet Dhuafa, KontraS, and the Indonesian Mission for World Peace (MINDA).
