Arief Hidayat: Adies Kadir Punya Kompetensi Jadi Hakim MK

JAKARTA - Retired Constitutional Court Judge Arief Hidayat said that the figure to replace him, namely Adies Kadir, has the competence to become a Constitutional Court Judge.

"I think Mr. Adies Kadir is a great politician, someone who already has competence," said Arief after the graduation ceremony of the MK Judge at the MK Plenary Session I building, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 4, reported by ANTARA.

Arief explained that Adies Kadir's duty as a Constitutional Justice is to maintain the constitution and the ideology of the country.

"Now, Mr. Adies has changed his function, if there is a (DPR) lawmaker, which accommodates all the interests of the community and the interests of various groups. If now it is in the Constitutional Court, its task is different, to maintain the constitution, to maintain the ideology of the country," he said.

AdiesKadir previously served as Deputy Speaker of the DPR.

According to Arief, the appointment of AdiesKadir was in accordance with his experience and achievements in the field of law.

For this reason, he hopes that Adies can carry out his duties well. "Based on the competence and experience so far, I think we can expect it well," he said.

Arief also answered the issue of the appointment of Adies, which was considered to weaken the Constitutional Court, was not to be feared because the Constitutional Court had a different system from the law-making institution.

He explained that the system in the Constitutional Court is transparent, accountable, and collective-collegial.

"He (Adies Kadir) will be carried away by the system that has been built by the constitutional court because the system built by the Constitutional Court is a very transparent, accountable, and collective-collectivist system," he said.

The collective-collegial nature, said Arief, strengthens the Constitutional Court regarding the decision to be determined together, bound by a code of ethics, moral unity, and legal unity.

"We cannot determine ourselves and act on our own. We are bound by the unity of the code of ethics, the unity of morality, the unity of law, and we must be accountable to the Almighty God. So, we can't just do it," he said.
