Make Special Rules for the Time Limit for Putting Political Party Banners on Flyovers and Roads, Pramono: Applies to All Parties

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said he had issued a regulation to discipline political party banners and flags that were installed in public spaces, ranging from flyovers to major roads. This policy is carried out through special rules that regulate the time limit for installing political party attributes in the Jakarta area.

Pramono said the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government had asked Satpol PP together with the mayors to socialize the provisions to all political parties. In the rules, the party is only given a certain deadline to install banners or attributes of activities.

"So for the party banners, we have made rules. I have asked the Satpol PP, and also the Mayor to make an announcement for political parties for the allowed time period," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, February 4.

The senior PDIP politician emphasized that the party's attributes that are still installed after the permit period expires will be immediately lowered. This ban applies without exception to all political parties.

"Outside of that, for example, two days (after the political party activity is completed), we will still lower it. And that applies to all parties. Don't see the ABCD party, just those whose permit period has passed, immediately lowered," he said.

According to Pramono, the installation of party banners on flyovers and major roads has often disrupted traffic order and flow. Therefore, he wants to ensure that public spaces are no longer filled with attributes of political activities.

"I really want to discipline, there is no more in Jakarta, if the party has an event then hang (banners) on the flyover, on the main roads. That really disturbs the traffic in Jakarta," he said.

The regulation of this party banner is also part of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts to clean up the city. Pramono said that this step was in line with President Prabowo Subianto's direction and the condition of Jakarta which is still facing waste problems after extreme weather.

"Indeed, in these days I specifically want to discipline Jakarta to become cleaner. Because, after all, the process yesterday was rainy weather and so on, garbage and so on, especially since there has been a directive from the President," said Pramono.

In addition to party attributes, Pramono also highlighted the use of other public spaces such as pedestrians and sidewalks. He emphasized that these facilities should not be used indiscriminately.

"For places in areas that must be cleaned, I ask that they be cleaned immediately, including pedestrians or sidewalks that have been built. I do not allow them to be used indiscriminately, including for parking and also for trading," he added.
