JAKARTA - The Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, stated that President Prabowo Subianto would convey the full reason for Indonesia's membership in the Board of Peace (BoP) Gaza in front of representatives of Islamic mass organizations and Muslim figures at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.

The BoP was initiated and led by US President Donald Trump Jr., which he formed as an effort to resolve the long-running conflict in the Gaza Strip.

"I think this afternoon forum is also part of what allows the President to later be able to convey these points in the hope that all of this can be understood by all parties," said Prasetyo as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 3.

He rejected the assumption that there was resistance to Indonesia's membership in the BoP from Islamic organizations and Muslim figures.

"It's not resistance, maybe there are still differences of opinion, which may be because it hasn't been conveyed in full what underlies the decision of the President and the government's decision, including there are points that are regulated in the Board of Peace, which is also a consideration that perhaps this has not been conveyed in full," he said.

In a meeting with representatives of Islamic organizations and Indonesian Muslim figures, Prabowo was also accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today is related to discussions about BoP and explanations will be made regarding the issue," said Sugiono when answering a journalist's question.

The Gaza Peace Council was officially launched on the sidelines of the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22, 2026.

The launch of the Board of Peace was led by the President of the United States, Donald Trump Jr., and was attended by a number of member state leaders including Prabowo who was also one of the leaders of the country who signed the charter for the establishment of the Gaza Board of Peace.

"I think this is a historic opportunity. This is a historic opportunity. This is really an opportunity to achieve peace in Gaza," said Prabowo answering a journalist's question after attending the launch of the Peace Council in Davos, Switzerland, Thursday (22/1).

"What is clear is that the suffering of the people in Gaza has been reduced, greatly reduced. Humanitarian aid is so large, so fast. I really hope, and Indonesia is ready to participate," he said.

According to him, countries that are members of the Peace Council are those who want to help the Palestinian people in Gaza. These countries are also those who want peace in Gaza.

"Who wants peace (there), who wants to help the people of Gaza, the Palestinian people (are in the council)," said President Prabowo in response to a journalist's question.

Apart from Indonesia, other countries that also signed the Peace Council charter include Hungary, Bahrain, Morocco, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kosovo, Mongolia, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan.

None of the western European countries and NATO members are members of the BoP, and Indonesia is the only ASEAN country to join.
