Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said the identification process was based on antemortem and postmortem data collected by the DVI team since the first day of evacuation.

According to ANTARA, based on provisional data as of Sunday (1/2) at 16.00 WIB, the joint SAR team has sent 74 bags of bodies to the DVI post for identification.

Of these, 17 bags of bodies are still in the stage of examination and matching identities by the forensic team.

Meanwhile, BNPB confirmed that based on initial data and the latest update, there were 517 refugees who had returned to their respective homes and another 159 were still choosing to stay in the refugee camp.

Abdul said the identification process was carried out carefully to ensure the certainty of the victim's identity before being handed over to the family.

The cross-agency coordination between the National Police, BNPB, Basarnas, local governments, and referral hospitals continues to be carried out to accelerate the process of handling victims.
