Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Facilitates the Return of 91 Indonesian Citizens from Myanmar

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has facilitated the repatriation of 91 Indonesian citizens (WNI) from Myawaddy, Myanmar, on January 30, 2026 at 05.30 WIB, using commercial flights.

The successful repatriation was a long and intensive process carried out by the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon and the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok.

"This repatriation is the fourth wave of evacuation from the Myawaddy area, following the repatriation of the third wave carried out on January 21-22, 2026," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a written statement, Friday (30/1).

Furthermore, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinates with parties in the country, especially to ensure that law enforcement and prevention are carried out properly, including with the KP2MI of the Criminal Investigation Unit, PPATK, Immigration, and the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Several Indonesian citizens have also expressed their willingness to cooperate with law enforcement to report those suspected of being their recruiters, so that they are trapped in the online scam syndicate.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that it always urges Indonesian citizens to always follow the applicable procedures if they want to work abroad, and always respect the laws and regulations in the local country.
