JAKARTA - Efforts to strengthen the role of women in the regional economy continue to be strengthened by the North Maluku Provincial Government (Pemprov) through collaboration with PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM).
This is reflected in the visit of the Governor of Malut, Sherly Tjoanda, to the PNM Tower, Jakarta. During the visit, Governor Sherly discussed strengthening the empowerment program for women in Malut, one of which was through the PNM Mekaar Program (Building a Prosperous Family Economy) which has been targeting pre-prosperous women ultra micro entrepreneurs.
Governor Sherly in the activity on Tuesday, January 27, also had the opportunity to interact directly with a number of PNM Mekaar customers who had received business assistance. The customers run a variety of businesses, ranging from culinary, batik, to the production of snacks.
In a dialogue with customers, Governor Sherly highlighted the importance of discipline and togetherness as the key to women's success in building businesses. He also explored the experiences of customers as inspiration for women in North Maluku who are pioneering businesses.
Dewi Susanti, a PNM Mekaar Depok Branch customer, shared her experience for six years of joining the PNM Mekaar program.
"I have been a PNM Mekaar customer for about six years. The key is discipline. We are very helped by the PNM Mekaar program because it can open a business to help the family economy. It so happens that I am also the group leader and in this group we support each other and share business experiences," said Dewi.
A similar experience was felt by Wiwin Winarti, a PNM Mekaar Depok Branch customer. He did not expect to have the opportunity to have a direct dialogue with the Governor of North Maluku.
"I really didn't expect to be able to meet the Governor directly. Through PNM's guidance, we were also taught how to manage waste at home. Now I know where the waste can be sorted and utilized, it can even be valuable. It's a lot, it can help the family economy," said Wiwin.
PNM Corporate Secretary, Dodot Patria Ary, conveyed PNM's commitment to expanding women's empowerment access to the eastern part of Indonesia.
"We continue to be committed to strengthening women's empowerment in villages. In North Maluku, PNM is currently developing several service units to reach and serve mothers so that they can grow and be economically empowered," said Dodot.
The collaboration between the North Maluku Provincial Government and PNM is expected to expand the impact of women's empowerment programs, as well as encourage the growth of sustainable ultra-micro businesses as drivers of family and regional economies.
