JAKARTA - Iran executed a death sentence against a man who was proven to work as an agent of Mossad or Israeli intelligence on Wednesday, January 28.

The execution was announced by Iran's judiciary, reported Mizan, the agency's public publication.

"He was hanged for the crime of espionage and intelligence cooperation for the benefit of the enemy intelligence agency (Mossad) through... the transfer of confidential documents and information," Mizan's information was quoted by Al Jazeera, Wednesday, January 28.

According to Mizan, the male convict was named Hamidreza Sabet Esmailpour who had been detained on espionage charges since April 2025.

Hamidreza was among about a dozen people believed to have been executed on charges of working as Mossad agents since the 12-day war with Israel in June.
