JAKARTA - A total of 17 heads of households in Cibeunying Village, Cilacap Regency, Central Java, are now starting to occupy temporary housing units (huntara) from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

These beneficiaries are residents whose houses were severely damaged and buried by landslide material due to the disaster that hit on November 13, 2025.

This step is part of the government's efforts to ensure that affected people do not linger in inadequate shelters.

Deputy for Logistics and Equipment of BNPB, Andi Eviana explained that the huntara that was handed over had been equipped with various basic facilities and infrastructure to support daily activities. These facilities include adequate bedrooms, toilets, kitchens, and family rooms.

"A total of 56 huntara have been built, and thank God today 17 huntara keys were handed over to 17 heads of beneficiary families," said Andi as quoted by ANTARA, January 28, 2026.

The construction of this huntara is not only providing temporary housing, but also a long-term mitigation step.

Andi revealed that a total of 56 huntara units were built taking into account the risk of future disasters, including the relocation of 49 residents' houses that were previously in the landslide-prone zone.

After this huntara phase is completed, the government is committed to immediately continuing the construction of permanent housing (huntap) for all 56 heads of households who are entitled to receive benefits.

Regarding the sustainability of this program, BNPB asked the Central Java Provincial Government and the Cilacap Regency Government to immediately prepare strict regulations regarding the management of permanent housing later.

This is to ensure that the assets are actually used in accordance with their provisions by disaster victims and are not misused, such as rented or sold to other parties.

Strict supervision from the local government is expected to be able to maintain the integrity of the assistance that has been disbursed by the state.

The presence of this residence was also welcomed by the community who lost their homes.

Tarkim, one of the victims of the landslide who is now occupying the new unit, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the government.

"Thank you to President Prabowo Subianto, Head of BNPB, the Governor of Central Java, and the Regent of Cilacap. Alhamdulillah, we have received temporary housing with complete facilities and are very supportive of the needs of daily life," said Tarkim.
