Commission X DPR Response to Prabowo Meeting with Zinedine Zidane: Preparation of the National Football Foundation

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission X of the House of Representatives, Lalu Hadrian Irfani, responded to the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and French football legend, Zinedine Zidane, in Davos, Switzerland last week. According to Lalu, this meeting is a preparation for the country in building the foundation of national football.

Moreover, President Prabowo wants there to be a football field in the new schools that will be built. Then said, specifically, his party does not know what topics the President and Zidane are talking about so it will be asked to the Minister of Sports, Erick Thohir.

"What is circulating in the media, that yesterday Mr. President Prabowo met with football legend Zinedine Zidane, of course we want to deepen it to the Minister of Youth and Sports, as well as he met PSSI, what was the result of the meeting?" said Lalu Hadrian at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 27.

"But earlier I had a chat that the President wanted to build football fields in the new schools that would be built, the result of the meeting with Zinedine Zidane, what does that mean? That the President wants, in the national football training, it can't be instantaneous," he continued.

Then he explained, the government has tried to train football through naturalization programs and so on. Apparently, said Lalu, the instant did not bear fruit so the President realized it.

"Finally, the President wants to establish or prepare the foundation of our national football in order to implement the existing national football roadmap to the 2030 World Cup," he said.

"So later in the new schools that will be built, there must be a football field there," he added.

Regarding budgetary support, Lalu assessed that President Prabowo must have taken it into account well. Commission X of the DPR, he said, believed that the government had prepared funds to build schools complete with football field facilities.

"I and my friends in Commission X believe that the budget is ready. Moreover, today, the education programs launched by the government through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education such as Garuda Schools, Integrated Schools, People's Schools, even. Well, insyaallah in the future, each school that will be built, including Garuda Schools and Integrated Schools, will require football fields in these schools," he concluded.
