Houses Affected by Situbondo Flood Increase to 7,435 Units

BPBD Situbondo Regency in East Java recorded that the number of houses of residents affected by flash floods that occurred on Wednesday, January 21, increased to 7,435 units from the previous 6,328 units and spread across six sub-districts.

The Head of the BPBD Situbondo Implementation Team, Timbul Surjanto, revealed that the number of houses affected by flooding increased after teams from the Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) and the Rapid Response Team (TRC) of the BPBD continued to assess the field.

"In addition to handling post-floods, the BPBD team also continues to assess the flood-affected locations," he said in Situbondo, East Java, Sunday, quoted by Antara.

According to the latest data, the houses of residents affected by the flood were the most severe due to the overflow of the Lubawang River, said Timbul, namely in Banyuglugur District, reaching 1,271 houses, spread across Kalianget Village 1,065 houses, Banyuglugur Village 65 houses, Lubawang Village 140 houses, and in Tepos Village one house.

Furthermore, the worst impact of the flood overflow of the river was in Besuki District with 5,414 houses, spread across 2,822 houses in Pesisir Village, 238 houses in Kalimas Village, 44 houses in Demung Village, 2,306 houses in Besuki Village, and 4 houses in Bloro Village.

Heavy rain on Wednesday (21/1) also caused a number of rivers to overflow and flood 113 houses of residents in Mlandingan Wetan Village, Bungatan District.

In Mlandingan District, there are 402 houses, spread across Selomukti Village 305 houses and Mlandingan Kulon Village 97 houses, then in Kendit Village/District 227 houses, and Curah Suri Village, Jatibanteng District 8 houses.

"We will continue to update data on houses affected by floods, including public facilities, educational institutions, and agriculture as well as road and bridge infrastructure," he said.
