JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the results of weather analysis found that the potential for moderate to heavy rain would still take place in most of the Jabodetabek area in the next week.

BMKGJatmiko Weather Praktirawan said that this condition was influenced by the strengthening of the Asian Monsoon accompanied by cold surges from the Asian mainland, thus increasing the formation of wind convergence areas in the Java region.

The BMKG meteorological team confirmed that the atmospheric dynamics triggered the growth of more intense and even rain clouds, especially in the Jabodetabek area which in recent days has experienced long-lasting rain.

"In the next week, there is still the potential for moderate to heavy rain in most of the Jabodetabek area," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 23.

Jatmiko explained that the results of the monitoring were found in the last 10 days that there had been light to extreme rainfall in Jabodetabek.

The highest rainfall was recorded on January 18, 2026 which reached 267 millimeters per day. Today (at least until 15.00 WIB) the rainfall was 189 millimeters per day in Jabodetabek.

BMKG urges the public to remain vigilant and increase preparedness for potential impacts of rain, such as flooding, flooding, and disruption of activities, especially in areas prone to hydrometeorological disasters.

"With the previously mentioned atmospheric dynamics, in the next week, the potential for extreme weather is also expected in some parts of southern Indonesia, including southern Sumatra, most of Java, Bali, NTB, and NTT," he said.
