KLATEN - The government has taken concrete steps to strengthen the protection of Javanese intellectual cultural heritage by inaugurating the restoration of the Raden Ngabehi Ranggawarsita Mausoleum. The inauguration was carried out by Minister of Culture Fadli Zon in Kedon Village, Palar, Trucuk, Klaten, Thursday (22/1/2026).

This restoration was carried out after the condition of the tomb area was considered to require serious handling. The government assessed that preservation was not enough to stop at the recognition of the figure, but must be realized through physical care and strengthening of cultural narratives.

"This is a form of state respect for Ranggawarsita, the poet of the land of Jawi. We honor his thoughts, as well as honor his tomb," said Fadli Zon. He emphasized that this area not only contains the tomb of Ranggawarsita, but also other art maestro figures who deserve to be strung together in one cultural narrative.

According to Fadli, the restoration is a gateway to revive the thoughts and values that Ranggawarsita bequeathed to the current generation. He also encouraged the designation of the tomb complex as a cultural heritage so that it has stronger legal protection.

Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo assessed that this restoration could increase the interest of pilgrimage and historical education. "We hope that Ranggawarsita's tomb will be a unique attraction for pilgrims and people who want to understand Javanese thinking," he said.

Raden Ngabehi Ranggawarsita is known as the last great poet of the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace. His work has a wide influence on literature, philosophy, and the outlook of Javanese society. His tomb complex is seen as a collective memory space, not just a burial site.

The Ministry of Culture emphasized its commitment to continue to develop this area through collaboration between the central government, local government, and the community, so that the legacy of Ranggawarsita's thinking will remain alive across generations.
