Bridge in Bali Equipped with 3 CCTV to Prevent Suicide Attempts

BADUNG - The Badung Regency Government, Bali, together with related stakeholders, strengthened the security system of the Tukad Bangkung Bridge because the number of incidents and attempted suicides increased.

"We have added two CCTV at the middle and eastern positions of the bridge. Thus, there are a total of three CCTV that are active and can monitor activities for 24 hours," said Head of Badung Information and Communication Technology I Gusti Ngurah Gede Jaya Saputra in Mangupura, Wednesday, January 21.

He said that with the addition, there are currently three active CCTV units that operate 24 hours a day to monitor activities in the Tukad Bangkung area located in Pelaga Village, Petang District, Badung.

"We will also continue to develop and improve the CCTV monitoring system, especially in locations that require more attention," he said.

Jaya Saputra explained that strengthening security could be a preventive step to anticipate the recurrence of the incident.

According to him, the Badung Regency Government is committed to restoring the image of Tukad Bangkung as a flagship tourist destination, not as a location with negative connotations.

"Hopefully this step will be an effective prevention effort. We want to restore Tukad Bangkung as a tourist attraction in Pelaga Village," he explained.

Acting Head of the Petang Anak Agung Ngurah Darma Putra added that throughout 2025, quite a lot of suicide incidents were recorded on the Tukad Bangkung Bridge.

"Currently, the PUPR Office has also installed barbed wire, and we together with Belok Village will also prepare officers to guard the security posts that have been prepared," he continued, quoted by Antara.

He said the prevalence of negative incidents had a major impact on the image of Tukad Bangkung, which was previously known as a tourist destination, but is now associated with a tragic event.

"Therefore, we are committed together with all related elements to restore the image of Tukad Bangkung as a safe and comfortable tourist destination for the community and tourists," concluded Ngurah Darma Putra.
