JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment (KLH) / Environmental Control Agency (BPLH) confirmed that as many as 28 companies were found to have violated the use of forest areas whose permits had been revoked by President Prabowo Subianto had stopped operating.

The Secretary of the KLH/Chief Secretary of the BPLH, Rosa Vivien Ratnawati, stated that the KLH/BPLH fully supports the President's decision, and will immediately follow up on it.

"If now it is revoked (the permit), it means it is not operating," said Vivien as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 21.

For the sustainability of employees working in the 28 companies, Vivien stated that his party would continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker).

"This is what we have to discuss with the Ministry of Manpower and so on, but what is clear is that we from KLH in this case fully support that we must revoke the existing permits in the area in 28 companies," he said.

Vivien also emphasized that the floods and landslides that occurred in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra were enough evidence that the 28 companies had damaged the environment.

Therefore, the revocation of this permit is one of the best steps taken by the government to create a more environmentally aware company ecosystem in Indonesia.

"They have indeed contributed to the disaster that has occurred. This disaster is extraordinary, friends also know, so this is one of the government's actions to how we can improve the natural environment there, one of which we will first revoke the permit, including KLH supporting in terms of environmental approval is revoked," he said.
