Forest Fire in West Aceh Spread to 9 Acres

MEULABOH - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Aceh Regency until Tuesday, January 20, continues to try to put out the fire at the location of the forest land fire that occurred in Lapang Village and Suak Raya Village, Johan Pahlawan District, Meulaboh, which has now spread to nine hectares.

"Currently, we are still carrying out extinguishing efforts," said Acting Head of the West Aceh Regency BPBD, Teuku Ronal Nehdiansyah, quoted by Antara, Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, the area of land that is currently on fire includes in Suak Raya Village, Johan Pahlawan District, the area of land that has been burned reaches about six hectares.

Then in Ujong Beurasok Village, Lapang Village, Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency, the burned area reached three hectares.

Teuku Ronal said the impact of land fires that have occurred since last week, has also resulted in the formation of smoke that interferes with people's breathing around the fire location.

In addition, the hot sun also caused the spread of the fire to spread and spread to other areas, so the officers had to work extra to put out the fire on various sides of the fire location.

Teuku Ronal said that at present the fire continues to spread slowly and has the potential to spread, because the wind blowing around the location of the incident is very strong.

In carrying out fire extinguishing efforts, the West Aceh BPBD was also assisted by TNI and Polri personnel as well as the community around the fire location, in the hope that the spread of fire can be prevented to avoid the widespread fire of land in the local area.
