Bogor City Government Emphasizes the Elimination of Angkot Aged Over 20 Years

BOGOR - The Bogor City Government has confirmed its commitment to remove city transportation operations that have exceeded the technical age of 20 years in accordance with Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 8 of 2023 concerning Urban Transportation Arrangements. The policy is ensured to be carried out consistently without exception.

Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim conveyed this affirmation while leading a routine morning appeal in the Bogor City Government environment at the Bogor City Hall Plaza, Monday, January 19. He stated that the Bogor City Government has a full obligation to enforce the ordinance that has been agreed upon together.

"The technical age limit of urban transportation is clear, a maximum of 20 years. The Bogor City Government as the executor of the Regulation cannot facilitate transportation that has exceeded the age limit to continue operating," said Dedie.

According to him, Regulation Number 8 of 2023 is not a policy that was born suddenly. The regulation has gone through a long process for three to four years, ranging from academic studies, regulation harmonization, to joint discussions with the DPRD.

Dedie emphasized that consistency in the application of rules is the key to ensuring that urban transportation arrangements run optimally and fairly. After the age restriction policy for angkot was implemented in full, the Bogor City Government will continue to take other steps to arrange transportation.

"After the implementation of this regulation runs consistently, we will enter the next phase, namely the rerouting and conversion of transportation programs. We will facilitate drivers and transportation entrepreneurs who comply with the rules," he said.

He added that the support of law enforcement officers was needed to ensure that the policy of removing old angkot could be implemented orderly in the field without causing disruption to the community.

Dedie also invited the people of Bogor City to support this policy as part of efforts to modernize transportation and urban planning.

"We want Bogor City to be a disciplined, clean, and modern city. It's time for it to no longer be filled with urban transportation that is not in accordance with the development of the city," he concluded.
