JAMBI - The Jambi Regional Police (Polda) reminded that there should be no more violence in the educational environment or schools, following the viral incident of violence that occurred at SMK Negeri 3 Tanjung Jabung Timur and became the attention of the public.

Head of Public Relations of the Jambi Police, Kombes Pol. Erlan Munaji in Jambi, Saturday said the educational environment must be a safe, comfortable, and conducive space for the learning process.

He emphasized that all forms of violence, both physical and psychological, including bullying, cannot be tolerated because they have the potential to cause trauma and hinder the growth and development of students.

The appeal is in line with the steps taken by the Tanjung Jabung Timur Police Chief AKBP Ade Chandra, who emphasized the importance of creating a safe educational environment free from all forms of violence.

Through the campaign entitled "Stop Violence in the Educational Environment" which is packaged in an informative and educational manner, the Police Chief invites all elements of the school and the Jambi community to work together to make the school a comfortable and conducive learning space for students.

"School is not a place to instill fear, but a safe, comfortable, and protective space for every learner. Instill the values of respect, obedience, and courtesy through words and deeds," said Erlan Munaji.

The Public Relations Officer explained that this campaign was carried out in response to the phenomenon of violence in the world of education which still often occurs and recently resurfaced following the viral incident on social media related to the clash between a teacher and a number of students at SMK Negeri 3 Tanjung Jabung Timur.

According to him, the incident is a reminder that violence in the educational environment can take various forms, ranging from physical violence, psychological violence, to bullying.

"The impact is not light because it can affect the psychological condition, learning achievements, and the future of students," he said.

For this reason, the Jambi Police invite the local government, schools, parents, and all elements of society to increase awareness and strengthen synergy in preventing violence in educational units and always teach courtesy and do good to our sons and daughters when carrying out activities at school.

Through continued collaboration, he said, it is hoped that schools can return to being safe learning places, upholding children's rights, and respecting the dignity of every educational person.
