JAKARTA - The Commander of the XVII/Cendrawasih Military Command, Major General TNI Amrin Ibrahim, said that the working visit of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to Dekai, the capital of Yahukimo Regency, was canceled due to security factors.

"The cancellation was taken after going through several assessments of data and facts as well as intelligence analysis and related to the assessment of the situation on the ground until the morning regarding the development of the situation ahead of the Vice President's visit to Yahukimo," said the XVII Cendrawasih Commander, Major General TNI Amrin Ibrahim, Wednesday, January 14. reported by ANTARA.

The XVII/Cenderawasih Commander as the Commander of the Joint Task Force (Pangkogasgabpad) for VVIP Security, emphasized that security was an absolute priority.

"The Vice President has a very strong desire to visit Yahukimo to greet the people and review the progress of development there, but I as the Commander of the VVIP Security Task Force, advise the Vice President to postpone the visit," said Major General TNI Amrin Ibrahim.

The commander said the delay was based on intelligence analysis in the field that detected indications of activity from groups that could potentially disrupt security and the smooth running of events in the Yahukimo region.

"Nevertheless, the Central Government is committed to building the Yahukimo region will not recede, and the working visit will be rescheduled after the situation is declared fully conducive," said the Commander of the XVII Cendrawasih Army General TNI Amrin Ibrahim, accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the TNI General Maruli Simanjuntak and the Papua Police Chief Inspector General Patrige Renwarin.

Vice President Gibran previously made a visit to Biak, Papua Province and Wamena, Papua Mountain Province.
