JAKARTA - The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) and Chairman of the Task Force (Satgas) for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction after the Sumatra Disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, has formulated a number of strategies to accelerate the rehabilitation and reconstruction of post-hydrometeorological disasters in West Sumatra Province (Sumbar).
Tito said the post-disaster recovery indicators in the 16 disaster-affected districts/cities in West Sumatra were quite positive.
"The indicators in West Sumatra are relatively encouraging. Why? Because all of the 16 affected governments, we see almost all of them are green in the district government," said the Minister of Home Affairs in his statement, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 14.
The Minister of Home Affairs has verified data on 16 districts/cities affected by disasters in West Sumatra. Verification is carried out on additional indicators for post-disaster recovery.
The indicators include the availability of electricity, fuel oil (BBM) which is marked by the operation of the General Fuel Filling Station (SPBU), the availability of liquefied petroleum gas, internet services, as well as clean water and water services of the Drinking Water Regional Company (PDAM).
These additional indicators are a strengthening of the five recovery indicators that had previously been set, namely the recovery of the government wheel, public services in the fields of health and education, land access, the economic sector, and the social conditions of the community.
The Minister of Home Affairs said that the focus of acceleration is now directed at four affected areas that require more attention, namely Tanah Datar Regency, Agam Regency, Padang Pariaman Regency, and South Coast Regency.
However, the Minister of Home Affairs emphasized that four areas with a fairly large level of damage still require cross-sectoral mutual support so that they can recover completely immediately. In addition, a number of other affected areas also still need acceleration of road and bridge infrastructure repairs, as well as clean water infrastructure and PDAM.
The Minister of Home Affairs emphasized the importance of accurate data verification by all regional heads so that the central government could know in detail the points of physical and socio-economic infrastructure that would be improved. "Details like this is what we hope for," he explained.
The Minister of Home Affairs said the government had mapped the recovery conditions for 52 affected districts/cities in three provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The mapping results divided the area into three categories, namely normal, half normal, and not normal.
