Alleged Pungli and Bullying, the Ministry of Health Stops Unsri Specialist Doctor Education

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) confirmed that it had instructed RSUP M.Hoesin to temporarily stop the implementation of the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) of Eye Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sriwijaya (Unsri), at the RSUP in response to the case of alleged bullying.

"Based on the results of the team's investigation, it was found that there had been bullying practices in the form of payment requests (extortion) by participants in the PPDS Eye Health," said the Head of the Communication and Public Information Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Aji Muhawarman, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 14.

Meanwhile, the residency was suspended, he said, giving the opportunity to M. Hoesin Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Unsri, especially the PPDS of Eye Health Sciences and all existing residencies, to immediately stop all activities related to bullying and report to their respective leaders.

Aji also said RSUP M. Hoesin and FK Unsri to give strict sanctions to the parties involved in the case of sister OA.

In addition, he continued, RSUP M. Hoesin and FK Unsri were asked to prepare a better bullying prevention action plan in the future and agreed together, and to report the progress of the action plan to the Director General of Advanced Health of the Ministry of Health.

Previously, it was reported in the mass media, a student of PPDS Eye Health Sciences at FK Unsri Hospital, M. Hoesin Hospital, was allegedly a victim of bullying by his seniors.

The victim was reportedly forced to finance his seniors for various things, such as semester money, parties, sports equipment, beauty products, to eating and drinking.

It is suspected that the victim had attempted suicide and dropped out of education because he could not stand the bullying.
