JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno ensures that the government will deploy all national forces to accelerate the rehabilitation and reconstruction process after the flood and landslide disasters in Sumatra.

This effort is strengthened by the issuance of Presidential Decree Number 1 of 2026 concerning the formation of a task force (Satgas) to accelerate post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"While the task force team is working, national forces are still deployed and continue to work in the field until now," Pratikno told the media at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, January 13.

Pratikno explained that the conditions of disaster-affected areas in each region are not the same. There are areas that are still in the emergency response phase, some have entered the transition phase, and some have entered the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase.

"Once again, this is done to ensure that the services to affected people remain maximum," he added.

Regarding disaster management, Pratikno emphasized that emergency response and community recovery efforts must run simultaneously. Emergency handling will continue, while the recovery process of various aspects of people's lives will be accelerated.

In addition, the government is also continuing to encourage economic recovery in disaster-affected areas. This step is carried out through the acceleration of the repair of supporting infrastructure, such as markets, logistics routes, and the production sector.

"Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) continue to be encouraged, the agricultural, fisheries and fishing sectors are also moving. Assistance to the community continues to be distributed so that the circulation of money increases and the local economy moves again," said Pratikno.
