Mechanic in Malaysia Kills Chinese Cemetery Manager's Grandfather and Son Threatened with Death Penalty

JAKARTA - A mechanic has been charged with killing a Chinese-origin cemetery manager and the victim's child in the city of Sentosa, Malaysia.

Chang Nyet Nyee, 50, nodded in agreement after the indictment was read before Judge Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali at a hearing under the jurisdiction of the Malaysian High Court on Monday, January 12.

Quoting Bernama, Tuesday, January 13, the defendant was charged with murdering Lo Thin Kuek, 68, at Clan Chai Cemetery, Sentosa City at 11.30 am.

He was charged under Article 302 of the Malaysian Penal Code which carries the death penalty or a minimum prison sentence of 30 years.

Chang in a different case is also on trial at the Malaysian District Court. In the hearing, which was also held today, Cheng pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempted murder against the victim's son Lo Thin Kuek, Lo Shau Loong, 34.

After the trial at the High Court and at the District Court, Deputy Public Prosecutor Chuah Khai Sheng did not offer bail to the defendant.

Chuah reasoned that the defendant's case was a serious crime and Chang faced two murder charges.

The next hearing related to the murder case of Lo Thin Kuek will be held by the Magistrates Court on February 19. Meanwhile, the murder case of Lo Shau Loong with the same defendant will take place on February 12 with the agenda of the preliminary hearing.
