Puan Sebut Persiapan Haji 2026 dan Alih Fungsi Hutan Jadi Isu Prioritas DPR Tahun Ini

JAKARTA - The Chairperson of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that the preparation for the 2026 Hajj, the super flu case, and the evaluation of forest use permits and forest function transfers would be priority issues of concern to the DPR this year.

This was conveyed by Puan in the opening speech of the III Session of the 2025-2026 DPR RI Session Year held at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 13.

Puan stated that in the function of supervision, the DPR RI will direct it to the implementation of laws and government policies in various fields which are the duties of each Equipment of the Council.

"So that the Government's performance can be optimal in providing public services for the people and accelerating development," said Puan in his speech.

In the discussion at the Council's Equipment, Puan said that the DPR RI would prioritize various strategic issues that were of concern to the public. Among others, regarding the availability of fuel, electricity, and post-disaster food in Sumatra and other regions.

Next is the evaluation of the implementation of transportation during Christmas and New Year, the evacuation of Indonesian citizens (WNI) in countries that are in conflict, the process of reforming the National Police, the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia, and the courts for enforcement and legal certainty for the community.

"The fulfillment of the basic rights of inmates in correctional institutions without discrimination, handling of the super flu case in several regions in Indonesia, the welfare of educators and education personnel," said Puan.

"Then, the preparation for the implementation of the 1447 H/2026 Hajj, as well as the evaluation of the granting of permits for the use of forests and forest functions," added Puan.

Puan also touched on the DPR which had formed the Sumatra and Aceh Post-Disaster Recovery Task Force (Satgas).

"Regarding the handling of flood and landslide disasters in Sumatra and Aceh which have entered the post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation phase, the DPR RI has formed a Post-Disaster Recovery Task Force," said Puan.

"(The formation of the Task Force) to ensure that the commitment of all ministries, agencies, and local governments can run well so that the rehabilitation and reconstruction process can take place faster, more appropriate benefits, and on time," added the former Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs.

Puan added, during this trial, the DPR will participate in a series of multilateral activities that will be useful for improving cooperation between countries and strengthening Indonesia's foreign policy as part of parliamentary diplomacy.

"Through inter-parliamentary diplomacy, the Indonesian House of Representatives will continue to play an active role in voicing and fighting for the values of independence of every nation, respect for state sovereignty, the enforcement of humanitarian principles, and justice in the global economic order," said Puan.

Puan stated that the DPR is also committed to protecting Indonesian citizens (WNI) abroad, encouraging the creation of regional stability and peace through dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding in various international forums.

"So that Indonesia can appear as a nation with dignity, sovereignty, and a real contribution to creating a better, fairer, peaceful, and prosperous world order," he said.

Puan then opened the III Court Session Year 2025-2026 of the Indonesian House of Representatives. "It's time, we are entering the trial period, carrying out constitutional functions to fight for people's aspirations and realize people's welfare," said Puan.

"By saying bismillahirrahmanir-rahim, on behalf of the leadership of the DPR RI, I hereby announce to all Indonesian people that the Third Session of the 2025-2026 Session Year," he concluded.
