The body of a child who drowned in Rejang Lebong was evacuated but was swept away by the current, the search continued.

JAKARTA - Basarnas continues to search for a girl who fell and was swept away in a canal in the Central Curup District, Rejang Lebong Regency, even into the Kepahiang Regency area.

He explained that the search for the second day after the incident on Saturday, January 10 was focused on Lake Suro because on the first day of the search, four residents who took part in the search had held and seen the victim's body, specifically under the bridge of Lubuk Penyamun Village, Merigi District, Kepahiang Regency.

"There were four people who took part in the search who had held and seen the victim's body intact, but because the current was too strong that the one being held was released. We pulled back specifically in Lake Suro to focus on the search," said Head of the Rejang Lebong Basarnas Unit Yudi Patria in the Lake Suro area, Kepahiang Regency, Saturday, quoted by Antara.

He said the joint SAR team which carried out the search until 19.00 WIB had not found the victim named Isnati Husnaini or Nini (8) residents of BTN Block D Housing, Air Bang Village, Rejang Lebong Regency who was swept away on Friday, January 9 at around 12.30 WIB.

According to Yudi, the search for the victim itself will be carried out again by the joint team the next day, considering that the lighting at the location is very minimal and the current is quite strong.

Previously, the victim was reported to have been swept away by the rain water that filled the drainage channel not far from his house at around 12.30 WIB.

The incident of the child drifting in the drainage channel was based on information from his family, starting with the victim together with his twin sister named Nana (8) returning from group study at a friend's house.

The two returned home on foot, but on the way the victim slipped into the drainage or the water was overflowing so the victim immediately drifted away.

Knowing that his twin brother fell and drifted in the drainage, Nana immediately shouted and asked for help from the surrounding residents, and immediately went home to report the incident to his parents named Muhammad Yasir.

The search was carried out by the victim's parents together with residents around the crime scene until the irrigation water flow, but it was not found.
