SAMARINDA - East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas'ud urged immediate repairs to the national road that was severely damaged in Muara Lawa District, West Kutai Regency, as a link between West Kutai to Mahakam Ulu, to ensure smooth connectivity between regions.

"We ask the National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN) to immediately intervene to carry out repairs because this road is very vital for the economic circulation of the community," said Rudy Mas'ud in Samarinda, Friday, January 9, reported by ANTARA.

Rudy assessed that the road damage in the area hindered the mobility of residents and disrupted the comfort of land transport users who pass by every day.

The route has a strategic role because it is the only land access connecting to Mahakam Ulu Regency (Mahulu) which is located in the upstream Mahakam river area.

The East Kalimantan Provincial Government ensures that coordination with the central government through BBPJN continues to be strengthened so that the handling of this road becomes the main priority.

"We continue to monitor the process of physical repair of the road so that the logistics flow can run smoothly without significant obstacles," said Rudy.

He hopes that these infrastructure improvements will not only facilitate accessibility, but also reduce the high logistics costs that have burdened people in the lagging, leading, outermost (3T) regions.

The review of the East Kalimantan Governor was recently carried out to improve basic infrastructure which has a direct impact on the welfare of the people.

"Residents there hope that they can soon enjoy smooth and safe road access to support economic growth in West Kutai and Mahakam Ulu," he said.

In addition, the East Kalimantan Governor asked that the road reconstruction carried out by BPJN be in accordance with the natural conditions and the capacity of vehicles passing through, especially logistics and fuel vehicles.

"BPJN can equalize the standardization of this national road so that the capacity of vehicles crossing is the same in Java and Sumatra as well as Sulawesi," he asked.

The Governor reminded vehicle owners to not over dimension over loading (ODOL) or truck vehicles with excess dimensions and loads that accelerate road damage.

"Please do not ODOL for vehicle owners. This is for the benefit of the community and all of us," said Rudy.
