JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) temporarily evacuated residents of Cibodas Village, Kadubereum Village, Padarincang District, Serang Regency, Banten Province, following a landslide on the slope of Mount Kaupas which occurred on Tuesday, January 6.

Head of the Banten Provincial BPBD, Lutfi Mujahidin, said that as of Wednesday, January 7, there were no reports of casualties or damage to property due to the incident.

"Until now there have been no casualties or property damage. The cause is due to natural movement," said Lutfi in Serang City, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

However, his party together with the local government took preventive measures by evacuating residents who lived below the slope, especially at night, to minimize the risk of subsequent landslides.

"In anticipation, residents who live under Bukit Kaupas, if at night are evacuated to SD MI," he said.

In Cibodas Village there are around 504 residents. Some of them are displaced in the nearest elementary school which is prepared as a location for evacuation, while others choose to stay temporarily at relatives' houses.

"Not all of them are in the evacuation location that has been prepared, some of them are evacuated to their relatives," said Lutfi.

According to Lutfi, the status of the evacuation is temporary and will be evaluated based on the development of the slope conditions in the field. "It has not been determined, see the development," he said.

BPBD Banten also monitored landslide-prone areas as part of mitigation efforts. Currently, there are 21 sub-districts in Banten Province that fall into the landslide-prone category, each spread across Serang, Pandeglang, and Lebak Regencies.

In Serang Regency, the vulnerable areas include Anyer, Mancak, Cinangka, and Padarincang Districts. In Pandeglang Regency, it includes Carita, Jiput, Panimbang, Cigeulis, Cibaliung, Cimanggu, Cadasari, and Mandalawangi Districts.

Meanwhile, in Lebak Regency, there are Bojongmanik, Cimarga, Leuwidamar, Lebak Gedong, Cigembong, Cibeber, Bayah, Cihara, and Panggarangan.

Lutfi added that the BPBD continues to coordinate with the district government and local authorities to ensure the safety of residents and preparedness in the event of further land movement.
