JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of Bangka Belitung Islands (Wagub Babel) Hellyana attended the first examination after being named a suspect in the case of alleged fake diplomas by the Directorate of General Crime (Dittipidum) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit.
Based on ANTARA's monitoring on Wednesday, January 7, Hellyana arrived at the Bareskrim Polri Building, Jakarta, at 09.39 WIB accompanied by her legal team.
Regarding today's examination, the Babel Deputy Governor stated that he respected the existing legal process and was cooperative in attending the investigator's call.
He also said that he had no evil intentions and that the case occurred due to administrative problems.
"There is no evil intention and we also do not know about it because at the time of the DPRD nomination, both the 2018 Regent nomination, it has been verified by the KPU (General Election Commission) and there is news that the event has been handed over," he said.
Meanwhile, Hellyana's lawyer, Zainul Arifin, said his party brought a number of evidence, such as copies of diplomas to judicial decisions (SK).
He also presented several defenses, one of which was that this case was due to an administrative error on the PP Dikti website.
"According to us, this is a wrong input or wrong update related to what is on the PD Dikti website which says he entered 2013, resigned (resigned) in 2014, while his diploma is 2012. This is actually an administrative error," he said.
Previously, the Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police, Brigjen Pol. Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko confirmed that Hellyana was named a suspect in the alleged fake diploma case.
However, Trunoyudo did not explain in more detail about the designation of Hellyana as a suspect in this case.
Based on the letter of determination of the suspect seen by ANTARA, Hellyana was named a suspect in the alleged crime of forgery of letters and/or forgery of authentic deeds and/or use of academic titles that were allegedly not correct.
Hellyana is suspected of Article 263 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 264 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 93 of Law (UU) Number 12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education and/or Article 69 of Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System.
This case began in July 2025 when Hellyana was reported to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police by a student at the Bangka Belitung University named Ahmad Sidik.
Sidik explained the reason behind the report was due to a discrepancy regarding Hellyana's graduation year from Azzahra University.
Hellyana claims to have graduated from Azzahra University in 2012. However, on the PD Dikti system of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), Hellyana was listed as a student at Azzahra University in 2013 and has been inactive since 2014.
