3-Year-Old Child Becomes Victim of Kidnapping in Sherwood Kelapa Gading Apartment, Police Arrest 2 Perpetrators

JAKARTA - A boy with the initials JE alias Jos (3) was a victim of kidnapping in the P2 parking building of Sherwood Apartment, West Kelapa Gading Village, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta.

The head of the Kelapa Gading Police, Kompol Seto Handoko Putra, explained that the incident began when the victim JE was about to go to church. When the victim and the domestic assistant were about to get into the car, suddenly a man came and forcibly took the victim's child with the initials JE.

"The perpetrator immediately fled through the emergency stairs. Meanwhile, the other perpetrators were waiting in a white Fortuner car," said Kompol Seto when confirmed, Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Meanwhile, an actor with the initials JP was successfully secured by the local apartment security. The case of child abduction was then reported to the Kelapa Gading Police.

"Then the Kelapa Gading Police Criminal Investigation Unit under the leadership of AKP Kiki Tanlim came directly to secure one of the perpetrators with the initials JP and was interrogated," he said.

After that, the perpetrator was immediately taken to the Kelapa Gading Police for further investigation.

To the police, the perpetrator JP admitted that they had rented the apartment since January 1, 2026, invited by a friend with the initials Jo Edward.

Jo Edward is known to be the ex-husband of a woman with the initials DP (37), the mother of the kidnapping victim.

"We are investigating with the CCTV footage of the apartment that there was a kidnapping. It is known that there were 3 perpetrators," he said.

The police then carried out an expansion to arrest other kidnappers. Later, the perpetrator named Jo Edward was arrested in the Pasar Baru area, Sawah Besar District.

"Jo Edward admitted that he took the child forcibly with the help of 2 of his colleagues with the initials JP and D (fugitive)," he said.

Currently, the two perpetrators of the kidnapping, initials JP and Jo Edward, have been detained at the Kelapa Gading Police for further investigation.

"The perpetrator with the initials D is still being pursued by the Kelapa Gading Police Operations Team," he said.
