JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has decided on the electricity tariff in the first quarter of 2026 or the January-March period for non-subsidized customers to remain or not increase.
Acting Director General of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tri Winarno, said the decision was made even though there was a potential for adjustment of electricity tariffs in the formula.
"Based on the calculation of these parameters, the electricity tariff formula has the potential to change. However, in order to maintain people's purchasing power, the government has decided that the electricity tariff for the first quarter of 2026 will remain unchanged," Tri said in a statement in Jakarta, Thursday, January 1.
He explained that the adjustment of electricity tariffs for non-subsidized customers was carried out every three months in accordance with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 7 of 2024, referring to the realization of macroeconomic economic parameters.
The parameters used include the rupiah exchange rate, Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and Reference Coal Price (HBA).
In addition, Tri said that the electricity tariff for 24 subsidized customer groups also did not change, with electricity subsidies still being provided by the government.
The policy is part of efforts to maintain people's purchasing power while providing certainty and economic stability for households and businesses at the beginning of 2026.
The government also asked PT PLN (Persero) to continue to maintain the reliability of electricity supply, improve service quality, and optimize operational efficiency.
