JAKARTA - Police have secured a know-it-all trader with the initials AF (33) who is suspected of sexually abusing minors in the Pasar Minggu area, South Jakarta.

The head of the Pasar Minggu Police, Kompol Anggiat Sinambela, said the perpetrator was arrested when he returned to pass while selling around the scene of the incident.

"The perpetrator was secured after residents received information that the person concerned was back selling around the crime scene," said the police chief when confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

Anggiat explained that the alleged abuse occurred on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at around 17.00 WIB. At that time, the victim, who was still seven years old, was playing with two friends in front of the house.

"The perpetrator, who is a seller, knows that he is approaching the children. Initially, the perpetrator tickled the stomachs of two of the victim's friends, then approached the victim and allegedly committed acts of harassment by touching the victim's vital parts," he explained.

After the incident, the victim screamed and complained to her mother, while the perpetrator immediately fled the scene. The incident has not been reported to the police until the perpetrator was seen selling around the scene a few days later.

"The perpetrator came back to sell around the crime scene, then was secured by several residents and taken to the kamling post and to the house of the head of the RW," he said.

Receiving reports from the community, police officers immediately went to the location to secure the situation and prevent the occurrence of self-judging actions. The perpetrator was then taken to the police station for further examination.

However, the police said the victim's parents were not yet willing to make an official report. The reason is that they do not want their child to be involved in the legal process.

"The victim has been directed to make a report, but the victim's parents refused because they did not want their child to follow the legal process," he said.

Currently, the perpetrator has been handed over to the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) of the South Jakarta Metro Police for further investigation.

"Because the case involves minors, the handling is carried out by the South Jakarta Police PPA Unit," he concluded.
