SURABAYA - The East Java Regional Police has named two suspects in the alleged eviction and violence against elderly woman Elina Widjajanti (80) in Surabaya after the title of the case and examination was based on scientific crime investigation (SCI).

"This morning we conducted an expert examination, then held a case and named two suspects, namely SAK and MY. Currently, SAK has been secured and is undergoing an examination," said Director of Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the East Java Police, Kombes Widi Atmoko in Surabaya, Monday, December 29.

The suspect SAK has been arrested and taken by investigators of the Women and Children Protection Unit (Renakta) of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the East Java Police to the Ditreskrimum Building at around 14.10 WIB.

Meanwhile, the suspect MY is still being searched by the team in the field.

He said that the role of SAK was suspected of bringing and coordinating a number of people involved in the act of violence, while MY along with three other people took action to lift and carry the victim out of his house.

According to Widi, the investigation still has the potential to develop.

"Based on scientific crime investigation, we have named two suspects and it is possible that there will be other suspects after the deepening of the investigation," he said.

He emphasized that investigators considered criminal acts to be inherent in individuals, not specific groups or organizations.

SAK was led by officers with his hands cuffed and immediately directed to the interrogation room without giving any information to the media crew.

Widi Atmoko said the two suspects were charged under Article 170 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding violence against people or goods with a criminal threat of five years and six months.

He added that after the examination, investigators would detain the suspect in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Code.

"After the examination, according to the Criminal Code, detention will be carried out," said Widi.

The case became a public concern after a video circulated showing a group of people dressed in red forcing Elina Widjajanti out of her house on Jalan Dukuh Kuwukan, Lontar Village, Sambikerep District, Surabaya.
