10 Activists Related to Ciceri Demo Riots Arrested by Police

SERANG - The Serang City Police (Polresta) in Serang City, Banten, has named 10 student activists as suspects in a riot demonstration case that resulted in the burning of the Ciceri Police Post on August 30, 2025.

The Head of the Serang City Police, Kombes Yudha Satria, said that this arrest was a follow-up to the development of a case that received special attention from the National Police Headquarters.

"The total number of suspects is 10 people. However, we cannot expose the complete identity in detail because it is still in the stage of further investigation and development," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 29.

Yudha explained that the tenth suspect included two students from Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta), namely Fathan Nur Ma'arif and Jonathan Rahadian Susiloputra, who had previously been sentenced by the court.

According to him, this decisive step was taken to uncover a wider network behind the mass action. Based on the results of the interim investigation, the police found indications of a link between the events in Serang City and similar incidents in Jakarta.

"Initially we only processed two people, but there was attention from the National Police Headquarters to uncover the network above it. In fact, there is a connection that leads to the incident in Jakarta," he said.

In the incident of burning the police post, the suspects are known to have varying roles. Investigators divided their roles from those who ordered the action, the perpetrators of vandalism, the perpetrators of arson, to those who helped the smooth running of the action in the field.

Although they have secured 10 people, the police admit that they are still hunting for other perpetrators who have now been included in the wanted list (DPO).

"His role is various, some are telling to those who help. Later, if everything is clean and caught, we will expose it to the public in a comprehensive manner," concluded Yudha.
