BANJAR - The Banjar Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), South Kalimantan, has designated two river basins (DAS) with flood hazard status, one DAS with standby status, and another DAS is still in normal condition.

Acting Head of the Banjar Regency BPBD Yayan Daryanto said that the two DAS which are now in a flood danger status are the Banjar Riam Kiwa River and the Banjar Riam Kanan River.

"Meanwhile, the Martapura Banjar River is in a standby status, and the Riam Kanan Banjar Dam is still in normal condition," Yayan said when confirmed in Banjar, Antara, Sunday, December 28.

He explained that the data was collected until 09.45 Wita based on the report of the Kalimantan III River Basin Agency (BWS).

Yayan detailed that in the Riam Kiwa River, the water level reached 8.5 meters with rainy weather conditions and a care status of 0 meters or danger. In the Riam Kanan River, the water level was recorded at 7.55 meters with cloudy weather and a care status of 0 meters or danger.

The Martapura River recorded a water height of 9.5 meters with sunny weather and a maintenance status of 0.5 meters or standby. Meanwhile, the Riam Kanan Dam is at an elevation of +58.58 meters with sunny weather and normal status.

Facing this condition, Yayan ensured that inter-agency collaboration continued to be carried out for periodic monitoring, considering that the Banjar Regency area is still in the rainy season.

In addition to manual monitoring, BPBD also utilizes the Sensor Early Warning System (EWS) technology to monitor river water levels. However, the latest EWS data for the December period is not yet fully available.

He said that EWS was installed in Rantau Nangka Village, Sungai Pinang District, as well as in Sungai Arfat Village, Karang Intan District.

"Although the technology data had experienced interference, officers still routinely reviewed the location of the EWS installation. The most important thing is internal and cross-agency coordination with the TNI, Polri, PMI, EBR, volunteers, and the community," said Yayan.
