TWA Mount Papandayan is Packed with Thousands of Tourists at the Moment of Long Christmas Holidays 2025

Thousands of tourists from various regions visited the Gunung Papandayan Natural Park (TWA) tourist destination in Cisurupan District, Garut Regency, West Java, to enjoy the view of the crater of the former mountain eruption and camp during the long Christmas 2025 holiday until this weekend.

"For per day, maybe today it's above two thousand," said TWA Gunung Papandayan Operations Manager Amin Kaban in the Gunung Papandayan area, Garut, Saturday, December 27, quoted by Antara.

He said that since Wednesday, December 24, there has been an increase in visits compared to the usual day of less than a thousand people to the TWA tourist destination of Mount Papandayan.

Visitors who come, according to him, are diverse from various regions such as Jakarta and its surrounding cities, then Bandung including local tourists from Garut for the purpose of visiting the crater area, dead forests and camping, natural warm water pools and other facilities.

"There has indeed been an increase in visits, although there has been an increase but it is not as significant as last year," he said.

He said the increase in visits was expected to continue during the holiday season or until the new year.

"The tourism manager, he said, has prepared additional security officers from the gate, vehicle parking area, to the climbing path and camping area.

"All of them are guarded by our security 24 hours," he said.

The natural tourist destination received special security from the police and TNI elements as well as other institutions from the local government to ensure the safety and comfort of tourists during the year-end holidays.

Head of the Cisurupan Police, AKP Masrokan, said his ranks continued to carry out routine patrols to check and ensure that there were no security, order, or visitor comfort disturbances.

"We always coordinate with managers, from the health team, from the government, working together to provide services, including routine patrols in tourism," he said.

One of the local tourists from Garut, Hendi, said he deliberately traveled to the nearest place to Mount Papandayan to fill the Christmas and weekend holidays.

However, unexpectedly, he said, it turned out that at the main gate to Mount Papandayan there were already queues of several four-wheeled vehicles that took turns entering the tourist spot.

"Just before I wanted to enter the queue, he said that it was full (parking lot), it was amazing that there were many visitors," said Hendi.
