The Coordinator of the Operation Control Center (Pusdalops) of the Situbondo Regency BPBD, Puriyono, said that the tornado that hit Wringinanom Village, Panarukan District, caused six houses to be damaged and a number of trees to fall.

"According to the residents in the village, before the tornado, it started with light rain and not long after the tornado hit the residents' houses and trees fell," he said when contacted in Situbondo, East Java, Saturday night.

According to Puriyono, after the BPBD Pusdalops received information about the natural disaster of the tornado, they immediately went to the scene and assessed the damage to the houses of residents affected by the tornado.

"From the results of the assessment, a number of residents' houses were affected by the tornado, the majority of the roofs of the houses were destroyed by the wind in the form of a vortex," he continued.

"The houses of residents affected by the disaster, most of which suffered damage to the roof of the house, and some of which were damaged by falling trees," said Puriyono.

He appealed to the public to remain vigilant because extreme weather is still a potential, and it is hoped that they will continue to monitor weather information from BMKG, and increase their preparedness.
