JAKARTA - A total of three houses were damaged due to land movement which was allegedly triggered by the flow of the Lusi River, Blora Regency, Central Java (Java).

The three damaged houses were from Dukuh Sambiroto. One of the residents whose house was affected, Nur, admitted that the land movement lasted quite a long time and until now it was still happening.

He suspected that the condition was caused by the flow of water in the ground which triggered the occurrence of landslides from below the surface. In fact, this soil movement has been going on for a long time and until now it has not stopped.

According to Nur, residents have tried to do land reclamation every day to slow down the rate of land movement. However, this effort has not produced results.

"Every day there is a review, but the condition is still the same," he said on Saturday, December 27, quoted by Antara.

Another resident, Janarto, revealed that some time ago drilling was carried out to a depth of about 16 meters to find a source of clean water. However, the water found disappeared.

"We suspect that there is a flow of water or underground river in this land," he said.

He explained that the affected land area was at a depth of about 1.5 meters from the ground surface, with the length of the eroded area estimated to be about 200 meters and its location is not far from the Lusi River flow.

Janarto added that the land around his house was crumbling about two centimeters every day. This condition caused the house to be severely damaged.

"The wall of the house was broken and had to be covered with tarpaulins. The floor was broken and cracked, even the foundation and the front and back pillars of the house shifted more than 20 centimeters," he said.

To prevent further damage, Janarto admitted that he had made a temporary patch with old wood to block the foundation so that the position of the building's pole remained parallel.

As a result of this incident, three houses of residents around the location were affected and had the potential to experience more severe damage if immediate handling was not carried out. Residents hope that the village government and related agencies will immediately conduct field surveys and technical studies to determine the causes of soil movement and determine the appropriate handling steps.

Responding to the incident, the Head of Water Resources (SDA) of the Blora PUPR Office, Surat, admitted that his party had indeed received an initial report on land movement which had an impact on residents' houses in Sambiroto Village, Buluroto Village and immediately coordinated with the Blora Regency Disaster Management Agency.

"After receiving information, we immediately coordinated and conveyed it to the BPBD and the Pemali Juana River Basin Office. Hopefully, this location can be included in the priority handling, possibly in the next fiscal year," he said.

However, until now the Blora PUPR Office admitted that it had not received an official written report from the local village government. His party encouraged the village government to immediately prepare an official report and submit it to the BPBD with a copy to the PUPR Office.

"The official report from the village government has not yet been received. We hope that it will be made soon so that we can compile and coordinate with related agencies," he said.

He added that when the official report was received, his party would conduct a direct check to the location to ensure the conditions on the ground. The next handling will be carried out gradually by considering the scale of priorities and the availability of budgets.

"The handling certainly requires a lot of budget allocation, so its implementation must be gradual. We ask the public to be patient," he said.

However, he said that in the previous year, the PUPR Service together with the BPBD had taken a number of initial mitigation steps and temporary handling in the area as an effort to reduce the risk of greater impacts.
