JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health will send volunteers and supplies to six isolated villages in Bintang District, Aceh, as an effort to provide moral assistance and raise spirits for the people in the area.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said there were six villages in Bintang District that were still isolated, namely Serule, Atu Payung, Jamur Konyel, Gegarang, Kelitu, Sintep. He said that because the place was still isolated, even food had to be dropped from the air (air drop).

"Well, I've asked the Bintang Health Center to send a team immediately, but this is not a cengeng-cengeng volunteer. It has to be strong, brave, and tough. Because he was dropped alone for two weeks like a soldier," he said as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 24.

As for the technical arrangement of his team, said Budi, it will be carried out by the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC).

Volunteers will be equipped with tents, generators, StarLink, food, fuel, and medicine. The teams are tasked not only to treat residents or wait, but are expected to take the initiative to help residents, such as cleaning their homes or repairing them.

"And also give motivation. So that the community is enthusiastic. Not that the community is sad. If he comes there sad, crying, the community will be more depressed," he said.

Budi Gunadi explained that his party also identified that there were more than 50 villages that were still isolated because they were affected by disasters in Sumatra. According to his plan, his party will also send volunteers from the nearest health centers from these villages, along with similar supplies.

The Minister of Health also reminded volunteer doctors and health workers not to be fixated on their specialties, and to do whatever they could, such as screening, health checks, cleaning the environment, or helping to connect water pipes.

As for volunteer health workers who contribute to handling, his party will provide 10 Professional Credit Units (SKP), so that they can benefit from community service.

"Once again, for volunteer friends, stay motivated. Come there, your task is to be a lantern for the people there," he said.

The Minister of Health appreciates the heads of the Regional General Hospitals (RSUD), heads of health centers, volunteers, and the community, who are eager to restore their health services.

"Because our task is to ensure that the people of Aceh are healthy again, happy, enthusiastic to immediately improve Aceh back to its previous normal function," said Budi Gunadi.
