Indonesian Parliament Urges Police to Finish Depok School Bomb Terror Ahead of Nataru

Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Abdullah, asked the police to thoroughly investigate the bomb terror at 10 schools in Depok, West Java. The completion of this case is necessary so that it does not have an impact on the community ahead of the 2025 Christmas and New Year 2026 celebrations.

"I ask the police to respond quickly and proportionately, so that this terror does not have a destructive impact on society ahead of the Christmas and New Year 2026 celebrations," said Abdullah in his statement on Wednesday, December 23.

Abdullah also asked the police to communicate the handling of the case in a one-stop manner to avoid panic in the community. Because, he is afraid that this bomb terror will be used by irresponsible parties and continue in other areas.

"It is also intended to anticipate other threats in physical and digital forms," he said.

The PKB legislator for East Java also encouraged the National Police to increase vigilance and intensify the Operation Lilin which involves the local government, the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), and other stakeholders.

"Through this Operation Lilin, patrols and security at vital objects, places of worship, schools, and other public spaces can be strengthened," said Abdullah.

He also appealed to the public not to panic and not to spread information that is not clear about the truth regarding the bomb terror at the Depok school.

Previously, as many as 10 schools in Depok City received bomb threats sent via email from a personal email address with the initials K on Tuesday, December 23.

One of the schools that received the threat was Arrahman Depok High School. The school learned of the bomb threat after reading a message that was sent to the school's official email address.

Most recently, the police revealed the cause of the bomb terror that hit 10 schools in Depok, West Java. From the provisional suspicion, the terrorist perpetrator claimed to be a victim of rape and disappointed with his case which has not been handled.

Head of Public Relations of Depok Metro Police, AKP Made Budi said that the motive for the perpetrator to commit a bomb terror threat was because he was upset and disappointed with the school and the police in Depok. This was revealed by the perpetrator through the contents of an email sent to the school that was the target of the threat.

"For this reason, we will continue to investigate whether the perpetrator who delivered the threat is true or someone else who uses the account," said Made Budi.

Besides SMA Arrahman, other schools that were terrorized by bombs were SMA Al Mawaddah, SMA 4 Depok, SMA PGRI 1, SMA Bintara Depok, SMA Budi Bakti, SMA Cakra Buana, SMA 7 Sawangan, SMA Nururrahman, and SMAN 6 Depok.
