BANJARBARU - Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has released the payment of Single Tuition Fee (UKT) for about 200 students from Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, who were affected by the flood and landslide disasters in Sumatra.

"This is a form of ULM's concern for students who experience disaster disasters, where many of their families died and their houses were destroyed," said ULM Rector Prof Ahmad Alim Bachri as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 22.

The symbolic handover of the decision letter for the release of the UKT was carried out during the 128th Graduation Ceremony in 2025 at the ULM Auditorium.

The rector stated that the policy of exempting UKT applies to next year and will be evaluated the following year based on future developments.

He hopes that the policy can ease the burden of students affected by the disaster and students can remain focused on attending classes.

"We continue to motivate students not to lose heart, continue to pursue their dreams even though the conditions they experience are very difficult," he said.

The Expert Staff of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) Yohandri Bow who was also present appreciated the ULM's move and considered it appropriate for each State University (PTN) to take similar policies.

"This is a form of campus presence for students affected by disasters, they are the next generation of proud hope who must continue their education," he said.

It is known that at the 128th graduation this time there are 712 graduates consisting of 62 Diploma Program, 530 Bachelor Program, 27 Professional Education Program, 78 Master Program, eight Surgical Specialist Program, and seven Doctor Program.

ULM as an accredited Unggul campus continues to produce high-quality educated resources to support the wheel of development both at the regional and national levels.
