Mother's Day, Pramono Says Women Have a Contribution to National Development

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung led the 97th Mother's Day ceremony in 2025 at the Jakarta City Hall, Monday morning, December 22. All the officers who carried out the ceremony on the anniversary were women, ranging from flag bearers to ceremony commanders.

This year's Mother's Day celebration carries the theme "Empowered and Working Women, Towards Golden Indonesia 2045", as determined by the Indonesian Ministry of Empowerment of Women and Child Protection (KemenPPPA).

In his remarks, Pramono emphasized that women can no longer be positioned solely as recipients of development results. According to him, women have a strategic role as change agents in various sectors of life.

"Women who work in coastal areas to those who work in urban areas have a real contribution to national development," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, December 22.

He assessed that the contribution should be followed by the involvement of women in the decision-making process. Pramono emphasized the importance of ensuring that women's voices are part of the formulation of public policies.

"Therefore, women's voices and aspirations not only need to be heard, but must also become the foundation in formulating public policies, development strategies, and the future direction of the Indonesian nation," said Pramono.

Furthermore, Pramono revealed that the DKI Provincial Government has provided a safe and comfortable space for women, including in public transportation and public spaces. The issue of women's safety and protection, according to him, is still a homework that must be dealt with seriously.

"This effort requires collaboration with various parties to strengthen the protection system, eliminate all forms of discrimination, and accelerate the empowerment of women in various sectors," he added.
