KPK OTT Kajari and Kasintel HSU: Initial Allegation of Extortion

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) carried out a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) in the North Hulu Sungai (HSU) area, South Kalimantan on Thursday, December 18. This activity occurred because there was an alleged transfer of money related to extortion.

"The initial suspicion was extortion," KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters in a written statement, Friday, December 19.

The parties who were secured are currently in the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. Budi said, among them were Albertinus P. Napitulu who was the Head of the North Hulu Sungai District Attorney's Office (Kajari) and Asis Budianto as the North Hulu Sungai District Attorney's Intelligence Officer.

"And the private sector is suspected of being an intermediary," he said.

In a silent operation, the anti-corruption commission also found hundreds of millions of rupiah. But, Budi did not specify how much.

The anti-corruption commission has 1x24 hours to determine the status of the party who was secured through OTT. The legal status and the construction of the case will be conveyed through a press conference.

For information, the KPK has held three OTT since Wednesday evening, December 17. First, the activity was carried out in Tangerang, Banten and Jakarta.

From this operation, nine people were secured and one of them was a prosecutor. The examination is still being carried out at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

After the examination was carried out, the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) took over the case because it had issued a preliminary investigation order (sprindik) on December 17 or coincided with the silent operation.

Next, the KPK also held an OTT in Bekasi Regency, West Java. There were 10 people who had been secured.

Then, the anti-corruption commission informed of OTT in Hulu Sungai Tengah, South Kalimantan. Six people were secured in the activity on Thursday night.
