JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that 470 houses spread across three sub-districts in Serang City, Banten, were flooded with varying water levels due to increased river water discharge.

Acting Head of the Serang City BPBD Diat Hermawan said that flooding hit six locations in Kasemen, Cipocok Jaya, and Walantaka Districts.

"The worst conditions were observed at the Grand Sutra Complex, Cipocok Jaya District, with water levels reaching 80 centimeters. In this location, flooding has an impact on 470 houses and 2,483 people," said Diat in Serang, quoted by Antara, Thursday.

Diat explained that the water in the Cipocok Jaya area had not receded. In addition, the flood in this area also submerged the Untirta Permai Complex, Banjar Agung Village.

Meanwhile, in Walantaka District, flooding submerged 150 houses in the Grand Sutera Complex, Teritih Village, with water levels of 30 to 70 centimeters which affected 425 people.

For the Kasemen District area, puddles of 15 to 40 centimeters occurred in the Rujak Beling and Kendal Neighborhoods, Margaluyu Village, and Tanggul Jaya Neighborhood, Banten Village.

"Our monitoring results show an increase in water discharge and currents that are quite fast in a number of rivers, such as the Cibanten River, the Padma Raya River, the Nyapah River, the Banten River, and the KSB River," he said.

BPBD Serang City has deployed personnel and equipment to the location to conduct assessments and data collection on affected residents. His party appealed to the community in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant against the potential for follow-up rain.
