Bengkulu Teen Murder Case of Mother Stopped, Suspect ODGJ

BENGKULU - Police have stopped investigating or SP3 the case of a girl who killed her biological mother Yati (50) on Manggis Street, Panorama Village, Bengkulu City because the suspect NA (18) suffered from mental illness.

The status of the suspect NA was declared to be dismissed by law after the results of the psychiatric examination showed that the teenager was recorded as a person with mental disorders (ODGJ).

The Sub-Head of General Criminal Affairs of the Bengkulu Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Ipda Revi Harisona, said the termination of the case was through coordination with the public prosecutor. The results of the coordination were continued with the title of the case and the case was in-SP3 in accordance with Article 44 of the Criminal Code.

"Regarding the status of NA, we have coordinated with the RSKJ and the Social Service to carry out further handling. Currently, the person concerned is still undergoing treatment at the RSKJ, which will be further developed by the Social Service," said Revi, Wednesday, December 17.

He explained that NA was still undergoing intensive treatment as an inpatient at a mental hospital. This treatment aims to ensure that the mental condition is stable and to receive therapy as needed.

"Currently, his position is still hospitalized, psychiatric treatment. Later, he will be returned to the country through the Social Service," concluded Ipda Revi.

It is known that the case of a teenage girl who killed her mother on Jalan Manggis, Panorama Village, Bengkulu City occurred on Saturday (2/8/2025) afternoon. The victim was then kneeling for Zuhur prayers and was abused to death by her son with blunt objects and sharp weapons.
